Meet the founders

KJ's parents thought he was out of his mind when he quit his job at a top consulting firm to become a salesman. But for KJ, it was clear that mastering the art of sales would mean a step closer to realising his ambition to become an entrepreneur. Although he has enjoyed much success since, he has always harboured a dream of establishing his own clothing brand.
He co-founded Buttonwell with HK after discovering they share the same belief for minimalism and perfection. Like making an exceptional chocolate cake with the best Belgian chocolates, they embark on a journey to create clothing with the finest fabrics.

Likes and quirks
His favourite superhero: “Captain America because he is a natural leader who can lead a team of disparate superheroes to fight for a common cause.”

He is happy: “When there is fresh milk in my coffee.”

His dream holiday: “The holiday after a holiday”

Instead of devoting his life to only one thing, HK has been fortunate enough to immerse in the fields of engineering (where he learnt how to build sewage tanks), consulting (where he picked up the fastest way of learning) and marketing (where his left brain learnt to cooperate harmoniously with his right brain).
Throughout his quest to become a Jack-of-all-trades, master-of-many, one thing that hasn’t changed is his passion to start and run a clothing business where he’d happily shop in.

Likes & quirks
His favourite superhero: “Batman because he is an example that we don’t need to have superpowers to succeed. Grit matters the most. Of course, his sizable wealth doesn’t hurt either.”
He is happy: “After a run, a good movie, or a good night’s sleep!”
His dream holiday: “One where I am free to wander and get lost in the beauty of the place.”
